KANNAWIDAN: The Festival of the Ilocano people 

     

       

   Philippines is known for its beautiful festivals. This festivals showcase different cultures and traditions of Philippines. It is not only an ordinary celebration to the Filipino's but it is their way to give thanks to their patron because we Filipino's believe that the prosperity of our city, town and nation was given by our beloved patron.

               Here in Ilocos Sur, we are celebrating not just one, not just two but too many festivals. Bagnet festival in Narvacan, Tobacco festival in Candon City and Longganisa festival here in Vigan City are only few of the festivals here in Ilocos Sur. But there is only one festivalhere in Ilocos Sur which is celebrated by all the Ilocano's and that is the "KANNAWIDAN FESTIVAL". This festival showcases the different cultures and traditions of Ilocos Sur. It also showcase the different products of  the entire Ilocos Sur like bagnet, longganisa, garlic, furniture, peanut and etc. This festival shows how religious and how passionate the Ilokano's are. It conducts different activities which shows what the Ilokano's culture and tradition. Artists, singers and some comedians are coming not just to celebrate with us but they are coming just to make us happy. This festivals shows how rich the Ilokano's in different aspects like traditions, products and especially in cultures. It conducts also different contests like mural painting which shows how talented the Ilokano's are. We Ilokano's are not just a simple person but we are the person who has a passion and who loves their own culture.

             Festivals makes us strong and have faith to God. As an Ilokano for how many years, I would say that KANNAWIDAN is one of the beautiful festivals here in Philippines. This is a big celebration for us Ilokano's. So, lets feel the essence and presence of this festival.
